I am a sucker for what I (and most American dealers) call burlwood and chrome. What better than to get a hold of a wonderful burl veneer and encase it in a high gloss clearcoat lacquer and then stick chrome legs on it. The mirror-like surface accentuates the wood’s mesmerizing patterns, creating a perfect blend of natures design and man made materials.
The original table top was quite worn and scratched so we completely removed the original finish and had it professionally restored. The fresh high gloss finish is what is required for a piece like this. It’s like putting natures finest work into a giant spotlight and sending it out into the world to be much admired.
Overall this is a low coffee table, its got some decent space for books or other objects that people keep on coffee tables. The chrome legs work very well with the burl top and beside being a totally usable object it has great mid-century vibes yet has a totally modern feel.
