Our lumbar cushions and bolster cushions are handcrafted using Aso-Oke, a traditional handwoven textile from the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria. Woven on narrow looms using techniques passed down through generations, Aso-Oke has long been reserved for important celebrations and ceremonial dress. Its distinctive texture, rich character, and exceptional durability make it one of West Africa’s most celebrated woven fabrics.
The fabric we select is predominantly woven from cotton, giving it a substantial weight and beautiful natural feel that lends itself perfectly to upholstery and soft furnishings. Every cushion is individually handmade and generously filled with luxurious down feathers, combining the heritage of traditional craftsmanship with exceptional comfort.
Each cushion collection is truly limited. Every set shown is the only one of its kind available anywhere in the world. Because Aso-Oke is woven in narrow bolts, we are often able to create only two or three cushions from a single length of fabric. Once a design has sold out, it is gone forever—we will never produce it again or restock the same pattern, making every piece a genuine one-of-a-kind heirloom.
