About Richard Young and Merrow Associates

Richard Young was a British designer trained at the Royal College of Art. He also worked with G Plan and studied under Danish designer Ole Wanscher. In the 1960s, he co-founded Merrow Associates with engineers Percy Wyett and Peter Weeks. Together, they created furniture that combined Scandinavian ideas with industrial materials. Their work used rosewood, chrome, and glass to achieve a clean and lasting look.
